Montessori Central offers a carefully structured, warmly inviting and stimulating environment for learning. The instruction and guidance are individualized within an atmosphere which is non-competitive and filled with careful regard for each child's personal sense of dignity. The class is composed of children ages 2 1/2 through kindergarten. This natural community encourages each child to become aware of the needs of others.
Enticed by the unique Montessori learning environment, our children joyfully learn through both direct and indirect interaction with the materials. Each child is allowed to function according to their own ability; arbitrary age levels are not applied. No child is forced into an activity when they are not interested or ready. Regardless of age, no child is held back from an activity when they are interested and able. in this way a positive self-concept, self-motivation, and real enthusiasm for learning are engendered.
The specific goals for a child who attend Montessori Central School are to:
-Nurture self-confidence and independence
-Stimulate a positive attitude toward learning
-Build the habit of concentration
-Foster inner security and a sense of order
-Train sensory motor skills
-Encourage grace and courtesy
-Instill an appreciation of nature, art, and music
-Support creative intelligence and imagination
-Promote an abiding curiosity
"Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed."
